Confessions of a Shopaholic Movie Night

I slept almost all afternoon. I am so puyat! But a happy one at that. I had dinner, watched a movie and went out for coffee last night with friends. It was fun!!!

I'm supposed to meet with Mels and Joy at Glorietta but Joy had some urgent things at the office. Tickets for the 8:30PM screening of "Confessions of a Shopaholic" were already sold-out, next screening is at 11PM. Whoa! So Mels and I decided to have dinner first while waiting for Joy. Since Melissa is craving for Thai food... we ate at Dusit Thani. The food is great. We are both hungry and in PG Mode that I wasn't able to take a photo of our food, haha!

The movie is at 11PM so we still have to wait for an hour. We're done eating so we just played with the cam while we catch up on each other's lives. Major Topic: How we spent Valentine's Day. Let these photos give you clues.

Inggo & Me

Before I stepped out of the house, I just had to take these photos so you can better understand Kuks' reaction when he saw me.

CREDIT:
PAPER by Fryske

I met up with Kuks at Trinoma. I waited for like 5 minutes before he finally arrived. The moment he saw me, he plastered a sheepish smile. But I know at the back of his mind he was thinking otherwise. More like, "Uhmmn... buhay ka pa!!!" Hahaha!

Kuks hugged me and asked, "EMO ka ba Chenelyn!?!"

We had oriental food for dinner but I forgot the name of the resto. Kasi I didn't enjoy it, hehe. The food is not bad but I was afraid I caught a stomach bug so I'm being more careful lang with my food in take. Thus, I don't have much appetite.

Kuks was snap happy that time so I grabbed the opportunity and smiled and smiled... and smiled at the shots. Or maybe he was just cheering me up because he knows I wasn't feeling that well. He knows very well what will make me happy... PICTURES!

Love Down Under with a Drover

It was a typical Friday afternoon, I was wondering what to do when the phone rang, with Jackee on the other end of the line. She's inviting me for another movie night out and of course I said yes without batting an eyelash. We had a hard time going to Megamall because it was raining and it almost ruined our mood. We thought we'd be stranded in the MRT station. After a quick dinner at McDo (have you seen their latest TVad? sweeeeet!), we went straight to the Cinema and patiently lined up, occasionally bugged by the scalpers around. I really can't believe there are a lot of people who'd casually approach you asking for extra tickets. It was awkward. So I was really relieved when we got inside. Anyway, the tickets says advance screening will start at 7:30PM. I munched my McDo fries while waiting. I've never seen the trailer before so I don't know what to expect. All I know is that it's an epic film. I even dread that it would bore me. But I was wrong.

Australia is Baz Luhrmann's (Director of Moulin Rouge!) film which is a romantic-adventure movie. It's the story of Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), an English, aristocratic woman who leaves England to follow her husband to Australia because she believes he is having an affair there. The husband is in Australia however, with the intention of selling his cattle station, a big property in the north of Australia. No confrontation happened. Instead, Lady Ashley embarked on a new type of journey, accompanied by a rough, hewn cattle drover (Hugh Jackman). Ultimately, Lady Ashley finds herself inheriting the cattle station and, in order to save it, she and the drover must undertake an epic cattle drive of 2000 cattles from Faraway Station to Darwin. In the course of that journey, she is transformed by the country and by love, for both the "Drover" and the indigenous child, Nullah (Brandon Walters). She realises that her life is not over, and there’s always a new life to be had. This film - which is at times heartbreaking and confronting, is also action packed as the characters were also caught in the bombing of Darwin in 1942, Australia’s only World War II battle fought on home soil. Just when you thought the movie is over... another conflict arises. It's quite long, It's almost 11PM when we left the movie house. But I'd say it's worth watching... I even shed some tears. I am really becoming too sentimental lately... tsk... tsk. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is still ringing in my head. Go watch it and be awed by the Aboriginal culture (look out for "King George"), fiery sunsets, epic journeys, romance (take note of Hugh Jackman's HOTness in his shower scene), dancing in a love tree, outback adventures, the dramatic landscapes (feels like The Land Before Time), and the story of the stolen generation.

Speaking of adventure, I'm afraid the "Anawangin trip" that Mels and I are cooking up will be shelved. I really wanted to go but it will be too costly if it will just be the two of us. Actually, Chie and Pol are willing to join but their Pinatubo trip falls on the same date (Jan31-Feb1). They wanted it moved to next next weekend. Mels wanted to go before she goes back to the corporate world on Feb2. I wanted a cheap trip. CONFLICTS. I know Mels spent hours browsing the net to research and plan this trip so it must be really disappointing for her. I know she really wanted this trip. But the month is coming to an end once again and my face will be slammed with a lot of bills so... I will have to convince myself again that there will still be a right time for Anawangin.

Melissa... I hope you understand

A Frankenstein Tale With a Twist

Jackee and I left the house really early today to pick up "a lot" of goodies. Can you hear the stress on the words "a lot"? Basta... it's a whole lot as in we don't even know how to bring it all the way back to Nova. After that, our Business Partner, A.K.A Partner in Crime, picked us up and brought us to her house again where we had our lunch. Seems like this is already becoming a Saturday ritual, huh!?! Hmmn... it felt like it's the best Pinakbet and Porkchop I ever tasted. I think I had 2 servings of rice, as in PG mode, hahaha! The gulay never ever tasted this good, basta I can't explain it! Maniwala na lang kayo na talagang masarap.

After resting for a while, we went to Robinson's Galleria to watch the advance screening of "IGOR". We have 6 tickets for the said movie, thanks to Jackee's charms *wink* Chris, Jackee's BF joined our group... hay... too bad Kuks is in Cabiao so hindi kami nakapag-movie date :(

Since "IGOR" is an animated comedy, a lot of kids are present to watch that day. Hindi nga lang masyado exciting because there were no contests prepared before the movie was shown, as what is usually done during advance screenings. NO FREEBIES... boo... hehehe, nasanay! =) Anyway, Igor is a movie about a hunchback (actually, all huncbacks in Malaria are called Igor) who wanted to make a difference. Because during that time, if you're born with a hunchback, you are automatically subservient to some sort of crazy professor/mad scientist. So Igor waited for his chance to step into the limelight and this opportunity came when his boss is killed by one of his own experiments. Finally Igor and the creatures he's created -– the low-wattage Brain who's not nearly as intelligent as he believes himself to be (he misspelled his own name, scrawling Brian across his cranium in permanent marker) and Scamper, an indestructible rabbit with a death wish -– have their chance to compete in the annual Evil Science Fair. And Igor knows exactly what will earn him first place. He's been working all night secretly over the design of a gigantic evil woman and believes it'll be just the ticket to win first place. Igor created this Betty Boop like evil, she called Eva who turned out to have a dysfunctional evil bone and so everything that could go wrong goes wrong. But with the help of his friends, GOOD still triumphed over EVIL. It's likely much of the dialogue in Igor will fly well over the heads of kids, as the majority of the jokes are intended for adult audiences -– not that they're off-color. Igor is actually a light-hearted comedy that's surprisingly sweet. And the important thing is, we enjoyed it while munching popcorn.

We decided to have an early dinner after the movie, and while still deciding on where to eat... we spotted an LV bag that belongs to who else but MY POK, Alison. She's having meryenda with her BF, and it' my first time to meet him. Alison is already walking towards me when I saw her joking loudly, "Who's that Pok girl wearing shorts!!!" It's a small world after all, ain't it!?! Nice to see you POK at super naka-outfit ka na naman at sobrang na-insecure ang shorts ko, hahaha!!! =)

By the time Jackee and I got home, super pagod na ako and sleepy. But before I doze off to dreamland... I want to share this with you. It's my own IGOR which I created in the movie's official website.

WANTED: Karpintero

Yesterday, after finding a cheap-ass bed frame in Makro (which I didn't buy yet, filed under Kuks' Approval), and getting a "just like heaven amats" from seeing all the closets in different sizes (I wish i also have the budget for that), I went to Trinoma to meet up with Kuks. I checked out the screening time of WANTED, 7:15PM and 9:45PM. It's already past 6PM so I decided to wait in McDonald's so I can sit and eat something. I ordered fries and Mcflurry though it's already cold because of the bad weather outside. Takaw tingin mode na naman. The clock continued to tick... wala pang anino ni Kuks... pwede na sabitan ng sandok ang nguso ni Chenelyn =( His Highness arrived past the 7:15PM screening kaya nasa 8th floor na ang kilay ko... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! What's new with the MRT hoollaballloooo!?! Hellur!?! To get me out of my not so good mood... I let him buy me dinner. In short, I allowed my Sizzling Porkchop and his Kuks na Kuks na kwento to take away the evil spirits, hehehe! =) I'm so easy to please, di'ba!?! *wink* And as a punishment for being late, he carried my giant umbrella, as in yung Lola umbrella. I can't find my 3-folds umbrella kasi when I left the house so I have no choice but to bring an umbrella as big as me because it was raining. Minus Pogi Points sa kanyang "Polo Barong Executive" look. Sabi nya, "Bumili ka na ng bagong payong ha, wag mo na dadalhin 'to ulet!" Hehehe, QUITS!!! =)

We watched the regular screening of "WANTED" at Cinema 6. From the opening scene, you'd think you are watching something like the "Matrix". And then they introduce to you the main character, Wesley Gibson (James Mc Avoy), who's your average Joe. A man trying to measure up with the expectations of his annoying Boss, overdosing himself with anxiety pills, and keeping mum about the cheating girlfriend and bestfriend. Then he meets Fox (Oh so sexy Angelina Jolie) who later brings him to the secret world of assasins. Angelina really look hot in this film even if she was covered with tattoo, she really looks just as good as she has in her previous shoot 'em up thrillers. Anyway, the band of assasins is headed by Sloane (Morgan Freeman). I also like this man, galing mag-deliver ng dialogues. So they begin to train Wesley and make him understand his past and fate. As bullets curve, heads get punctured, hilarity ensues, and rats explode.... WANTED is action packed but we did enjoy. Lots of visual effects where some may find a bit absurd (what about the Law of Physics!?!) but I still find it very entertaining and worth watching on the big screen. *bigsmile* If you like beautifully crafted action scenes, then you are in for a rock and roll time.

Back to my DL issues... I am still in search for a Carpenter. Booo...

the MIS-happening

Since yesterday was a holiday, I wasn't able to do a lot of my Monday errands. So naturally, I did it all today and I can't believe it ate up my day =( Actually... I had a series of misfortunate events, thus, the title of this entry. I left the house at 9:30 AM to go to my first stop. So I rode a public transpo and missed my stop... because the driver failed to drop me off. I got really pissed because that means I have to travel back. I know I'm slightly at fault too because I've been to that governtment office before and yet I still don't know how to go there commuting. Knowing me... I get lost most of the time. I really have NO SENSE OF DIRECTION. Yes... that's me. I love to travel but getting lost is a major part of it *wink* Anyway, the Brat in me still insist that majority is the driver's fault. I asked him to drop me off and he totally forgot that I'm there. Which led me to be oh so totally late for my first errand... so I got stuck during the office lunch break. Dumbidum. As for my next errand, I had another bloopers as I went to the wrong business office =( The Maynilad office in Zabarte, which I thought is a lot nearer so I went straight there is for customers of North Caloocan only. Meaning I have to go all the way back to Regalado because that's where the Maynilad office for Novaliches customers is. I talked to a lot of Maynilad officers to raise the issue of my overcharged waterbill of P2,679. I didn't know I had a pool party! =) They promised to work on it (they SHOULD) and asked me to go back after 1 week. For my third errand, I went to Novamall to have my printer ink refilled and waited for about 30 minutes. After that I went to the parlor for a pedicure I trully deserve =) I was relaxed for a while but I have to run again to BDO for my bank chuvaness. It's about to close when I got in. I'm so lucky I didn't miss it. I finished all my errands at 5:30PM. I left the house around 9:30AM. Which means I've been in the streets for 8 long hours. Commuting took it's toll on me. My leg already hurts and I still need to rush one more time. I'm meeting Kuks for a movienight at Greenbelt, malapit lang di'ba!?! So I went home and took a quick shower and I'm on the road again...

You guessed it right. I am very very late as I reached Greenbelt at 8PM and the movie started at 7:30PM. We watched the advance screening of "The Happening". It's a paranoid thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan starring Mark Wahlberg. Since the movie already started when we got in, we got a little confused while watching it. We were able to catch up on the plot after a while but got lost again in the middle of the film. The introduction of the main conflict is visually well done. The characters were running away from a "strange and horrible phenomena". Yes, there were moments that it had me on the edge of my seat, with my fingers covering my eyes (yet I'm also peeking, hihihi), especially on scenes where people in the streets were mindlessly committing suicide. But at the last 40 minutes until the end of the film, I felt hanging. And so is Rellie. We even heard a comment from the person seating behind us, "stupid film!". Hahaha! =) Kuks keep on asking, "Chenelyn, anong nangyari!?!" in his most pang-asar tone. The movie never bothered to move the story past its main conflict. I love Shyamalan's "The Sixth Sense" but this movie... uhmmmn... I think it's not worth watching :P

* You see... today, everything that happened to me is a MIS-happening, hehe *wink*

how often do you COLOR?

I had a short "business meeting" yesterday and I am hoping that it will turn out well. I will elaborate on this when the right time comes. For now, I will keep you guys hanging and hunching =) Just help me pray for a positive outcome.

After the meeting, I agreed to meet up with Lanie which I think is a perfect timing since I am still tensed and excited from my meeting. I needed someone to talk to, though I cannot disclose my "business deal" yet, I just needed someone at that very moment. I was already at Trinoma around 5PM, and she said she'll be able to meet me at 8PM the most. So I went malling in my high heels... from Trinoma to SMNE to Trinoma to pass time. Literally, my feet is already killing me when she arrived at a little past 8 ='(

But she made bawi naman =) We ate at Mexicalli and she treated me with an eye catching dinner. THANKS BRU! Lanie is a good friend of mine way back in my TEEN years. We met because our EX-es are siblings. Both guys are now gone, hehe, I mean they have a family of their own already. But I am glad that Lanie and I remained friends. We don't see each other that often but we have this string that attaches us =) And what matters more is that we are both successful in our own ways and we too have our respective happy relationships. Not yet on the marrying stage... but slowly getting there (Can you see it? My fingers are crossed! Haha!) Slowly... but surely as they say *wink* In fact, she's leaving for the States by July to try her luck and be with her love. Yikee!!!

We had to cut our dinner short because we also plan to see "Sex and the City".

I wasn't a huge fan of the series and I was only an occasional watcher. I really didn't follow it so I wasn't 100% familiar with all of the characters and recurring plot lines. I was able to catch the trailer the last time I watched a movie with Kuks and decided right there and then that I will catch this film... with or without him, hahaha =) So good thing my schedule for the day matched with Lanie's, and I'm really happy that I watched it with her. By the way, she's an avid fan so she was able to fill me in with some of the details. This movie is definitely good entertainment and a pleasant couple of hours spent with your girlfriends. Or you can also watch it with your boyfriend perhaps as some of the women in the moviehouse did. I bet those guys were probably dragged along to see this movie as well. But surprise... surprise... Lanie and I can't help but smile whenever we hear men react or laugh out loudly during the movie. Hmmn... they seemed to be thoroughly enjoying it as much as their girlfriends did =)

There were breathtaking costumes, elaborate and witty dialogue, and some interesting twists along the way. So be prepared to see a dazzling display of the fashions. There were a lot of designer clothes, bags, purses, shoes, and jewelries that are a real delight to the eyes. Admit it or not, there's a little label-savvy character in everyone. Who wouldn't want a Louis Vuitton bag, especially if it was given as a gift, right? *wink*

I like the scene where Carrie and Big were discussing about love letters. Hmmn.. I agree, sure as hell, girls would love to receive even short notes on post its. I know it's the age of SMS and all... but hey... WRITE IT! =) I also liked Charlotte's ferocious protection of Carry back to the limo. It nearly caused tears to stream down my face. I think my heart skipped a beat for that particular scene ='( And I can also relate to Carrie's mopping scenes. I also tend to shut the world out in times of emotional wreckage like that. I'm a tough girl I know, but as we all know... LOVE can also weaken you at times... or most of the time *wink* It is impossible to truly understand its logic, whether there is any, and what the gals in the story have given us is the acceptance that sometimes our emotions overrule reason, and this might not be such a bad idea, but it's something that you have to handle very carefully.

If I had one complaint it was that the editing was not as creative. Maybe the nudity and sex scenes were a bit gratuitous and it seemed it was easily cut out of the film. But hey, you guys can do better. Don't leave the audiences caught up in a scene and next thing you know... it's already an entirely different scene. Boo... Not that I'm eager to see the hot sex scenes, ha... harharhar! =)

"Sex and the City" clearly shattered the idea that there was a happily ever after, but it really never turned its back on the concept of hopeless romance, and how we just keep on going regardless of how tough the road can be. As a girl-bonding movie, it certainly works. Two hours that combine love, friendship, survival, and a reaffirming belief that in the end... everything should work out, pretty much the way our hearts hope it will. The movie is smart and witty, sexy and bold, and overall just fabulous. The interesting characters made me want to go back to watch the series on DVD.

movie... noodles... iced tea... chocolates... what more can you ask for?

We watched the advance screening of "Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" at Trinoma Cinema yesterday. The film will take you back to 1950's - the Russians and nuclear testing. I specifically like the gun powder/warehouse scenes, the motorbike chase, the ants scene and the time that they were able to discover the City of Gold revealing old age mechanisms . Humor was OK and most jokes worked for me. The only scene that bothered me is that Indy survived the nuclear explosion in a refrigerator (huh!?!) and then is whirled away miles through the air, exits the fridge and just walks off? Hehehe... I know things like this happens in action/adventure movies... but stilll... I find it too difficult to believe. I simply don't get it! *wink*

Ultimately, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a film that, while not entirely bad falls short of its mark. Knowing that you have Harrison Ford, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg involved in the film raised so much expectations. But then again, it's simply not possible to top an iconic, legendary film or series. The original can't be beaten, and is next to impossible to match. This Indy movie is entertaining in a sort of way and I had fun and laughed while I was watching it. But it also made me think about Nicolas Cage's National Treasure because they have a similar plot.

Hey... why am I complaining when I get to watch an advance screening and take home some goodies too!?! Hahaha =)

Did I mention that I waited for Rellie for an hour? Hmp!!! Good thing Jackee and Chris were there to save us good seats. Oopps... I think I shouldn't complain about that either because he gave me chocolates. My long over due pasalubong from his Subic trip which we picked up from their house after watching. And I now have my vits with me too! Yey! See? I'm really serious about my goal to gain weight ;-)

* looking forward to more CINEPLEX adventures

just enjoy the moment

I met up with Kuks today and we had dinner before watching a movie. I'm sharing with you a photo of my Healthy Plate because I also can't belive that I finished it all, hahaha! YUMMY-ness!!! Or should I say I was ordered to eat everything =) I am really making extra effort to "eat well" as I am already tired of hearing the "you look thin" comments. I don't know what went wrong. I always wanted to gain weight but it seems like I'm losing more and more weight now. But really, I will gain it back or even gain more... I promised myself that and I'm working on it *wink* See, it look and taste really good. I'm not really a fan of green salads but I like this one. And I can help but smile as Kuks keep on saying, "I feel like a goat", in his pinaka-maarte tone mimicking someone. Heehee =) Guess who? *wink* Yeah, Kuks may appear to be snobbish and outright nerdy to some but he never fail to make me smile when he starts being goofy. Very strict (on some things... err... a lot of things pala) but he can be funny too. And what I like about our dinner today is that we were able to talk about a lot of things. My eyes really widened when he started mentioning about the big *M* thing. Did I really hear that!?! Nothing fancy but it swept me off my feet for a moment there. Ooppsss... enough. As my title says... just enjoy the moment.

We watched the last full show of "When Love Begins". I was a little hesitant at first as I heard some bad reviews about the movie. It wasn't that bad. We enjoyed relating to the scenes, hahaha! I had fun spotting Anne's swimwears and cover ups =) And at the same time I also thought of how I spent the Boracay Trip I had last year. Oh my God I'm starting to really miss the beach again... boo =(

what happens in vegas

Fresh from the bus station last Monday, Kuks and I dropped our things and grabbed a quick dinner before going to Glorietta. We met up with Jackee and Chris (double date, yikee!) to catch the advance screening of "What Happens in Vegas". It's a Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher starrer. We enjoyed the movie, and I think the pairing of Ashton and Cameron worked. They have screen chemistry and wonderful comedic timing. Even the credits additional scenes had us enjoying this fun, relatively clean, lighthearted comedy. Ashton looks so hot *YUM* and I like Cameron's outfits *SEXY* here. Plus "Hater" and "Tipper" added double fun. But don't expect a lot from the film. It's enough that we were able to get a much needed rest after out trip. In the movie, what's supposedly a crazy and rowdy weekend in Sin City followed them all the way home and turned their lives upside down. The casino, slot machines and chips reminded me of some scenes from the past, hahaha! =) A trip down memory lane... scenes from not so long time ago... dumbidum *wink*

This is my favorite scene =)

one fine day

We both lack sleep so the original plan to meet up at 9AM yesterday was moved to 10AM. We had lunch and the funny thing about it is that we ordered Kare-Kare again, this time from the neighborhood karinderya =) Must be our favorite dish, haha. It was good, I must add. Then we set off to begin the day's journey. We went to Hidalgo (Moy's Repair shop, it's the first repair shop that we saw) to have my Digicam checked and we were asked to wait for 3 hours so we decided to watch a movie while waiting. We passed by Quiapo Church first and we were very lucky that the Priest was blessing the crowd with Holy Water when we got in. It was the Feast of the Black Nazarene last Jan9 so they are still celebrating. We went malling after saying our prayers and finally got a taste of Tokiyaki balls again, yum... yum. We watched "National Treasure" afterwards. I love Nicolas Cage that much so I let go of watching BEE Movie. And now, it's time for the good news. We went back to Hidalgo for my cam, waited for 1 more hour while eating snacks and voila... it was fixed. My heart skipped a beat as Kuya Joe was doing the test shot.I can't tell you how happy I was to have my Cam back for the cheap price of PX200 only!!! (come on, take a wild guess!) I was able to save a whole lot compared to the P9k repair price quoted in the Canon Service Center. This one is really worth celebrating!!! KUKS TREATS. Thank God I resisted in buying the P15k Canon Digicam on sale that I saw last December at Abenson's. Woohoo!!! We passed by Ace Hardware to buy some stuff before we headed to our last stop... MY SHOP. The General will do some inspection. Thank God I kinda passed... I was not able to clean 1 keyboard drawer out of 12. *grin*

This is us testing my "revived" Digicam. SMILE.
Tired but happy.
